Chapter one · Ghislaine MacBride

I just bought a brand-new 2026 Spyder.

It will be ready for the highway in mid-September. This website is the journal of that journey — from day one onward — so family, friends, and other Spyder riders in Kelowna, Vernon, British Columbia, and across Canada can ride along from home.

The first photograph was taken in front of the dealership. The picture I want to keep is this one: touring jacket, helmet in hand, and a background of trees. Until the bike is licensed for the road, every page here is a promise of the kilometres still to come.

The highway does not ask how far you have come.
It only asks if you are ready.

The Journey

From the dealership to the open road.

This is not a brochure. It is a logbook. Each marker is a real step toward the first licensed highway ride — and every ride after that.

  1. Day 01
First day with the new Spyder at Kelowna Powersports

    Kelowna Powersports

The keys, the smile, the white Spyder

Day one began in a dealership parking lot. A brand-new 2026 Spyder RT, pearl white over matte black, touring seat and panniers ready for the long road. This photograph is the first page of the journal — kept until the licensed highway portrait takes its place of honour.

  2. Now
Sunlight through a dense evergreen forest

    Class 6

    The written test

Before the highway comes the homework. I am studying for the Class 6 written test — the first official gate between this new machine and the open road. Pass that, and the next stamps in the passport are licensing and the road test.

  3. Next
Cockpit and windshield of the Can-Am Spyder RT

    Licence & road test

    Paperwork, then pavement

Once the written test is done, the Spyder still needs to be licensed for the highway. After that comes the road test. Each of those days will be written here — the nerves, the weather, the first legal kilometre.

  4. Mid Sept

    Highway ready

    The first true ride

Mid-September is the horizon: licensed, tested, and pointed toward the trees. From that day forward this site becomes a living map — Kelowna mornings, Vernon loops, and farther Canadian roads as they unfold.

About Me

Ghislaine MacBride — a rider, a new Spyder, and a province of roads.

I live for the Okanagan light and the feeling of a machine built to tour. This site is for the people who know me — and for Spyder riders I have not met yet, from Kelowna and Vernon to the rest of British Columbia and Canada.

The 2026 Spyder RT is a full touring three-wheeler: two wheels in front, one in back, a tall windshield, and luggage ready for long days. I am petite — 4'11" — so a kit is on the way from the United States to raise the brake pedal two inches on the left side, right where my foot meets the bike. That small change is the difference between a beautiful machine and a machine that truly fits.

Until the kit arrives, the Class 6 written test is passed, the bike is licensed, and the road test is behind me, this journal holds the in-between: the waiting, the studying, and the daydream of trees rushing past the windshield.

Ride Community

Kelowna. Vernon. British Columbia. Canada.

This journal is open to family and friends — and to every Spyder rider who knows these roads. Pull up a chair. The kettle is on, and the map is spreading.

Kelowna

Home base

Where the Spyder was collected, where the first photographs were taken, and where the highway will begin.

Vernon

Neighbourhood roads

Okanagan loops, lake light, and the riders next door. If you ride a Spyder here, you are already part of this story.

British Columbia

A province of corridors

Forest highways, mountain passes, and coastal weather. BC is the first great canvas of this journal.

Canada

Farther still

From the Okanagan outward — a travel log for anyone who loves three wheels and a long horizon.

Follow Along

Ride with me from the first kilometre.

Leave a note, send a route idea, or simply say hello. Family, friends, and Spyder riders are all welcome — especially if you know a beautiful stretch of British Columbia I should not miss.

  • New journal entries as the tests and licence land
  • Highway photographs once the Spyder is road-legal
  • A gallery that grows with every ride
